Red Everything – my Zalando Picks

I’d never never heard of Zalando before I was kindly given the opportunity to review their amazing range of items, as potential gifts for the fashion-conscious.

Zalando brings together brands from the high street and luxury labels together in a way that makes everything feel expensive and classy. Women’s, men’s, and children’s collections are available to browse.

With winter in full swing, I gravitated towards their fantastic selection of boots. These Caprice Red zip-detailed ankle boots caught my eye. Air soles, and fleece lined, they’re warm, comfortable, and stylish!

The centre piece for my order had to be this incredible Moschino bag – I can’t even hyperlink to it because I must have snapped up one of the last ones!

You can also see pictured the fossil purse I ordered. Fossil are a great go to leather brand for purses and bags in my mind so I was pleased to find them sold here. I chose this purse as it tied into my theme, but with a touch of uniqueness to liven up the inside of my handbag.

If you’re stuck for ideas for fashion loving ladies and gents in your life, or if you just want to treat yourself, visit Zalando. Take it from me, they’ve a new customer for life!

This post is my opinion, the items were chosen by me but kindly given by Zalando.

Jake Shoes Review

I’d love to begin this blog post with a happy birthday shoutout to Jake Shoes, an independent shoe retailer based in the North West, with bases in Stockport and Manchester City Centre. they celebrate 40 years of business this year, staying strong when many small independents have been closing down. I support small businesses however I can as a blogger, and in the run up to Christmas, shopping small and local is more important than ever!

I’m rather sheepish to say that I didn’t get them a gift for their birthday, but instead they sent me a very generous gift which I’m sharing with you today.

These amazing Vagabond Chelsea boots!

Jake Shoes Vagabond Boots

Chelsea boots are a wardrobe staple, and I have to admit I’ve been hankering after a pair for a while. I’m rather fussy with boots – high street copies of real leather styles just don’t cut it, both visually and in terms of how they feel on your feet.

These Chelsea boots are real leather, and after wearing them in with extra thick socks I can envisage them being comfortable for years to come.

the elastic around the ankle is robust yet gives enough for me to tuck in my jeans. I love the rich tan colour of the leather, they are perfect for autumn days, and will carry me well into winter and spring with the durable heels and soles. They are available in various other colours and styles, too.

I found them pleasantly neat on my feet – as a size 7 chunky boots make me feel rather stomp-y.

I styled them with my skinny jeans from Next and my zip grey tee from M&S.

I made my selection by using their new website, which is easy to navigate and filter down to style or brand of my choosing.

Jake Shoes do their own designs as well, which you can browse on their website – I must admit I’ve got my eye on a few pairs of shoes at the moment!

Thank you so much to Jake Shoes for the opportunity to write for them. It’s always great to support Manchester Businesses, and see the Northern powerhouse growing.

The boots were selected by me and sent as a gift from Jake Shoes, however all opinions are my own!

Dolly and Dotty Dress Review

Hello!

Well, I feel absolved of my negativity after yesterday’s ranty post, and would like to bring you a beautiful dress review today instead!

I got this dress from Lucy Loves at Didi’s Boutique in Altrincham, which I’ve blogged about here and here. I have always loved bright Yellow, and am attracted to items of clothing or accessories that are yellow in a magpie-like manner! it’s harder to rock in such a block colour manner when it’s coming into autumn, but a yellow satchel paired with a dark toned outfit, or a yellow pair of shoes brighten up any dull day!

The Wendy dress is from the Dolly & Dotty range on the Lovedidis.co.uk website, made from 95% cotton and is very soft and versatile. I love how well it fits (this is a size 10) around my waist without being too tight. It has a nice length, coming to just the level of my knee (i’m 5ft7), and has enough flare to the skirt to wear with a peticoat. It comes with a matching belt as well, but I chose not to wear it for the photos, as the dress required no cinching.

I paired the dress with my red Lotta clogs.

boden shoes Alice heel

Boden Alice Heel

Yesterday, I posted about my Boden sale pick in the form of my Scallop Sweater. I also bought some fantastic shoes at the same time – so fantastic in fact, that they deserved their own blog post. I’m talking about the Alice Heel of course, possibly the most instagrammed shoes this season!

I can totally understand how – they’re probably the prettiest shoes I could have imagined! Polka dot, bows, tassles grouped with a cute pastel colour palette. Again, as I mentioned in my last post, I wasn’t tempted to buy the with their hefty price tag of £119.00. Yes. they are beautiful, but realistically, how often will I wear them?! Apart from this blog post and for my holiday in a couple of weeks (that’s if my husband doesn’t laugh too much when I wear them, mind) probably not very often.

Therefore, the sale price of £35.70 was a lot more palatable for my bank account. You can shop the Alice shoe in this colour and also 3 other styles by clicking here. They do a sensible black and beige pair (reduced to £47.60), but where’s the fun in that, I ask? This post serves as a shameless deposit for colour popping images of these absolutely delightful heels! Enjoy…

Boden Clearance Pick – Scallop Sweater

I’m absolutely in love with Boden, but not necessarily with it’s price tag. It’s obvious that a lot of time and effort goes into the design of their seasonal collections, the fabrics are beautiful, the garments are well-made. But I just can’t commit to buying FULL price items…

The clearance of their Summer items has been on now for a few weeks at least, and I had a bit of a raid online. I couldn’t resist this Scallop embroidered sweater that I found, which would be absolutely perfect to wear through Autumn and Winter, reduced from £79.00 to £39.50. Much more affordable, for something a little bit special.

My size (10) wasn’t available, so I ordered a 12 figuring that extra fabric in Winter is never a bad thing!! To be honest, it would have fit me best in a 10, but I still love it! I styled it with my favourite Mango Jeans, and my new shoes from Clarks. Who doesn’t love a pair of brogues? The suede of these shoes is so soft! I can’t wait to be stomping through the autumn leaves in these!

I don’t know about you readers,  but when I was little I remember watching ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and being mesmerised by Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers (a girl’s love for shoes starts early you see…).

Imagine my joy then,  when I came across this beautiful handmade necklace featuring the very same ruby slippers in miniature!!

The Kitschenette – handmade Jewellery

I stumbled across Kirsty and her amazing shop Kitty’s Kitchenette on Twitter recently and was like,  ‘wow’. Cute, quirky cartoon based drawings turned into actual jewellery you can wear, and in whatever form you wish! Earrings, cufflinks, bracelets, necklaces and brooches!

Now,  I am a huge Gamer Geek to the extent that I obsessively play RPGs (role playing games) for hours – I can lose days if I’m not careful! I get so addicted to the story and absorbed in the characters!

Fallout is one of the universes which I’ve sank days work of game play into, and when I spotted this Nuka Cola bottle cap brooch (the wasteland’s currency, seeing as dollars as virtually worthless in the post apocalyptic 50s USA) I had to have it! Priced at £8 for the brooch and slightly more for a necklace.

I also couldn’t resist this ‘Raw Stone’ piece as a necklace, though it’d make an awesome brooch too! I just love the style of these designs.

Etsy Spotlight : Rosewood Sunglasses from IXcymru

image

Hey everyone! Wow has it heated up this week!   When it gets hot like this fashion and beauty sometimes goes to pot.  We Brits aren’t used to this weather! Our wardrobes aren’t equipped for sweltering heat, and our makeup bags become forgotten!

Well, I thought I’d share my summer essentials with you starting with these gorgeous upcycled  and 100% recycled wood sunglasses from IXcymru , a small Welsh Etsy shop! Aren’t they fab?! Daniel was sweet enough to send these to me,  choosing the Cat eye Rosewood frames.

They’re super light,  comfortable and come in a beautiful bamboo box. I also got send a quirky free gift of a bamboo “speaker“! Now free with orders for a limited time.

Aren’t they the coolest?! Priced at £29.99, they’re guilt free! One thing I should point out –  I don’t believe the lenses are UAV/UV protective. So fashionista only!

Hand printed Silk Scarves by Heidi Valkola

Afternoon lovelies!

I’m a scarf lover through and through – who doesn’t love brightening and mixing up an outfit with a fun and colourful scarf? I’ve blogged about scarves before ( Celia Gould silk Scarves here, and F+F nautical scarf here!)

I discovered the Somewhere Store, Etsy store owned by Finnish Heidi Valkola, on Instagram. I love the geometric symmetry of the scarves, with designs influences by nature- plants, birds and organisms of the sea! All things I absolutely love!

I chose the Jelly Fish scarf – you cannot get cooler than this! A mixture of blues and calming aqua, it chills out a summer outfit perfectly. I selected the smaller size which is more suitable for a neckscarf, headscarf or an additional to a handbag.

Isn’t it amazing?!

My other favourites include the Secret Garden design, which is a livlier green colour palette featuring a cool insect geometric pattern, and the flamingo scarf – because who doesn’t love flamingos?! If you want to shop these two scarves, click the image!
