Rose Gold Nails

Hi everyone!

A short and rather indulgent post today for you all about one of my shameless obsessions : nail polish.

I’ve been coveting a really good Rose Gold for a while now, which is unusual for me. For a long time I veered away from metallic polishes all together,  convinced they didn’t apply as well and we’re outdated (clearly my perception had been poisoned by a few poor products from my younger  years).

Rose gold/copper had been hot on trend for a while now,  both in the home, in our stationary collection and now in the makeup we apply. Its beautiful, classical, and so flattering for I imagine most skin tones.

I selected this shade Gold Rose from Model’s Own, at £4.99 a bottle.

It applied gorgeously with only one coat (however I committed a lazy beauty sin and applied over the top of my existing nude polish so it had a good base).

The bottle isn’t a fair representative of the colour within but it is beautiful all the same.

I’m keen to experiment with more bolder Metallics now, but there definitely room for another rose gold shade in a deeper hue –  does anyone have any recommendations?

my BarryM Pinterest Board

Hey Guys!

Followers of my blog and of my Instagram account will know that I have a bit of an obsession with BarryM nail polishes.

I don’t quite own all of them yet, but that’s not for lack of trying! They seem to be bringing out more and more collections these days and I struggle to keep up, in terms of the amount of space I actually have to keep them, and the cost of them (even though individually they cost around £3-4 per nail polish) – when A collection comes out with 5 or more shades the cost piles up!

Anyway, I’ve created a pin board with my manis and flatlays in once place in case you are a total Nail Polish nut like me! Go ahead and give it a follow!

I’d love to connect with more of you on Pinterest too, so leave me your links in the comments below and I’ll check out your boards!

Tips to cut down the cost of your makeup addiction!

If there’s anything I like better than beauty products, it’s saving money on them.

Wearing and sometimes reapplying your makeup more than once a day, I can quickly begin to run out of makeup staples – I know for me, face powder is a prime example of this (though weirdly I always have at least 2 mascaras rattling about at any given time in my makeup drawer!)

Makeup addict as I am, I probably do have far too many eyeshadow palettes than I will ever use.. But I have a tendancy to run through out of my basics pretty quickly. I thought I’d share with you some tips, whether you are looking to stock up on makeup bag staples or looking out for something new or special to try, in order to save a bit of money!

Find Bargains Online

The internet is the best place to find bargains for pretty much anything you can think of; you’re favourite candy, clothes, and costume jewelry. Makeup is no exception, and you can find some incredible bargains online. You’ll be able to find low-price alternatives for your favourite beauty products in many places (I love Bodycare for trying something new, for as little as 99p!)

You can also discover high-end products at great prices by looking for out of season products -. You can look for websites that specialise in discount makeup deals, or just take to eBay – Illamasqua nail polishes can be snapped up for well over 50% off.

Of course, there are also some budget brands that have fantastic products to rival the high-end brands – I adore Makeup Revolution!

Buy in Bulk

One trick that can help you save money, especially online, is buying several lots of your favourites at once. If you have a product you know you love and will buy over and over, you can save money by purchasing in bulk. For example, you can get some Revitalash products to last you three or six months. Amazon is a great place to buy your favourite designer haircare products in packs of 6 – Tony & Guy, Argan Oil products &  Tigi Bed Head to name a few.

This is only a good idea if you’ve actually used the product before –  Don’t buy a year’s worth of something you’ve never tried!

Look in Unexpected Places

When you’re shopping for beauty products, you probably go to Boots, Superdrug or a department store. But you could find some fantastic bargains in places you don’t think to look. Take pound shops for example. You can find all kinds of things for only £1 (or sometimes a little more or less), and things that you would expect to cost a heck of a lot more! Go and have a rifle through their makeup and beauty products. Supermarkets are another place you might not think to look. But they can have excellent beauty sections. I love Beauty at Tesco found in the large superstores.

Seek Out Freebies

Of course, the best bargain is a complete freebie. But how can you get hold of them? One way is to enter competitions with prizes you’d love to get hold of. There are also lots of websites that tell you where to find the latest free samples. For example, if you visit, you can find tips on where to find freebies. Some of the offers come straight from beauty companies. They often look for people to trial a new product and give their opinion – if you’re a blogger you can sign up to resources like to receive products directly from brands who want to use your blog as a marketing platform.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on your makeup. With my money saving advice, you can feed your beauty obsession for less!

Model’s Own Polishes for tans review

Good morning lovely readers,

Last week I was contacted by Models Own on instagram as they liked my feed and wanted to send me some polishes! I was blown away! Now there’s a brand with good taste,  ahem!

To follow me and see what you’re missing click here!

So they arrive very yesterday in the post and I opened up for a peek!

They sent me 5 shades, from left to right they are ; turquoise sea, malibu pink, cocktail hour, sarong wrap and beach hut.

Now normally I wouldn’t buy these. The real reason being I’m not naturally inclined to tan,  though I made a concerted effort last week to get me some vitamin D.

Beach Hut is a super bright fluorescent orange. It’s cool,  but probably not the shade I was destined to wear,  even with my love of orange.  Pictured here with  coats. The formula is quite a bit thicker than;

Cocktail Hour! A really fun fluorescent pinky red. This is more my shade or pink/red. Thinner in formula and pictured with two coats.

I love this bubblegum pink colour,  and would happily wear this daily and to work. Two coats but probably needed a third here and there.

I’m not normally one for yellow and this did nothing to change my mind. It doesn’t beat the yellow shade from the Barrym speedy quick dry collection (previously swatched here). I did two coats but perhaps could use 3. Not keen on the formula.

Turquoise Sea might be my total favourite from the 5. Formula is amazing and I got great coverage with two coats. I left this on afterwards and was really impressed with the shine and finish.

I’d be keen to try some more polishes from this range,  though the formulas are somewhat hit and miss.

Thanks for reading, what do you think of the colours?

BarryM Speedy Quick Dry Collection

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry collection

Hello everyone!

You probably already know by now,  but I am a fully fledged nail polish freak,  and a Barry M addict in particular. In my view there is no better value polish on the market for quality you get.

The speedy quick dry collection really appealed to me as there’s nothing I hate more than smudging my nails! I’m always on the go and so the faster it dried the better. These polishes really do deliver on their quick dry polish.

I thought I would swatch the “brights”  of the collection (as they have pastels too!) that I own. They’re always bringing out more shades and my collection grows!

If you’re interested I can do a post showing the swatches of my pastels quick dry collection?

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Blue Nail Polish Swatches!

You might remember that I blogged about my YSL polish; how I absolutely loved the colour but not the fact that it chopped somewhay too easily for a polish that cost £18.00.

I have a number of blues in my collection,  after having picked up a few more in order to try and find a cheaper replacement to console me!

Far left is YSL, the rest are Barry M on swatch wheel featuring blue grape, supersonic, Malibu, blackberry and blueberry.

From the left most swatch on the dial it’s YSL on bleu majorelle, followed by BarryM polishes in ; Supersonic, special edition in bikini, on my nails is blue grape, followed by malibu (matte) , blackberry and finally blueberry!

Blue grape is gorgeous,  closely followed by Supersonic as pictured below. The speedy quick dry polishes have the best formula though,  I can’t fault it!

Rings are from Poppy Kitten Designs and LouiseMacJewels!

What’s your favourite blue? (you can find out about the ring on the right here!)

Beauty Review : Barry M daylight curing Polish

I absolutely had to try this out.  I’m a girl who is forever rolling up her sleeves and getting stuck in,  so my nails always pay the price for it! 10 days of colour they promise.

We shall see…

I had to choose 1 colour because I’d already spent a bucket load on the speedy dry polishes.

I settled for the classic ‘Fushia Generation’,  a deep rich pink which appears darker,  more towards plum in the bottle and in certain blue-eyed lighting.

I was instantly impressed with the application of this Polish.  I applied 2 coats for full coverage with 1 coat of the daylight curing Polish. I painted my nails at night so I supplemented the drying process a bit with my UV lamp.

It dried super quick and the end result is beautiful.

These are available for £4.99 each at Boots.

Have you tried these out?

Nail Polish : Barry M nail polish addiction

Hey ladies, happy Sunday! What have you got planned today? I’ve scheduled this post because I am actually down in London for the VE day 70 years on concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I’m so excited and I can’t wait to dress up!

Sundays for me are generally lazy,  though I might well be preparing for a new week ahead with a manicure.

This weekend I swatched one of my new polishes (need for speed) from my latest Barry M haul. This one comes from the speedy dry collection  and I honestly can’t endorse it enough.  It works,  and it’s great value from money. I’ll never stray from this brand.  Ever.

It might replace the matte collection in terms of best application… Might..

I bought these 4 together as they were bright and summery.

I thought I might also share with you some pictures of the rest of collection.
