Dolly and Dotty Dress Review

Hello!

Well, I feel absolved of my negativity after yesterday’s ranty post, and would like to bring you a beautiful dress review today instead!

I got this dress from Lucy Loves at Didi’s Boutique in Altrincham, which I’ve blogged about here and here. I have always loved bright Yellow, and am attracted to items of clothing or accessories that are yellow in a magpie-like manner! it’s harder to rock in such a block colour manner when it’s coming into autumn, but a yellow satchel paired with a dark toned outfit, or a yellow pair of shoes brighten up any dull day!

The Wendy dress is from the Dolly & Dotty range on the Lovedidis.co.uk website, made from 95% cotton and is very soft and versatile. I love how well it fits (this is a size 10) around my waist without being too tight. It has a nice length, coming to just the level of my knee (i’m 5ft7), and has enough flare to the skirt to wear with a peticoat. It comes with a matching belt as well, but I chose not to wear it for the photos, as the dress required no cinching.

I paired the dress with my red Lotta clogs.

Lucy Loves Vintage : Lindy Bop Dress

A while back I reviewed this gorgeous tea dress from Lucy Loves Vintage, a new online venture launched by Marie who had a dream of running her own vintage clothing store.

I’ve since gone to visit her in her new digs based in Altrincham. She has taken over a store called Didi’s boutique from a friend of hers who was too poorly to continue running the store. She now has big aspirations to update the place with a 50’s diner feel, and will stock the beautiful dresses available from the Lucy Loves website.

Lucy is in actual fact Marie’s 10  year old daughter (sorry if I got that wrong Lucy), who helps her mum with the shop and has a bit of a passion for Lionel Richie! I spent an hour with them trying on dresses from the Didi’s range, as Marie is having a massive sale to clear out stock and make way for those gorgeous vintage dresses that we all love.

I had a great time trying things on, and Marie is working really hard to make her dream come true.

She generously gifted me this AMAZING ‘Lindy-Bop’ dress, available on her website. How nautical and 50’s can one dress be!?

I even had a go at doing victory rolls for the occasion!

What’s over there, I wonder?

Fashion : J’adore Vintage Shirt

On Saturday I visited what is soon to be my local vintage shop. I am moving into a new build in July in Prestwich,  an up and coming area in North Manchester.

The shop in question is Jadore Vintage located on Bury New Road. Its easily recognisable from its bright pink frontage!

I popped inside for a quick browse –  admittedly it didn’t take long as the store is compact and well laid out.

It took me a few minutes to find this amazing embroidered denim shirt. It reminds me of a brighter take on native American Indian designs!

I wore it with black leggings and blue ankle boots. The prices seemed really reasonable too  seeing as “vintage”  these days is an excuse to hike up prices for second hand clothing.

I will definitely be popping back to Jadore Vintage in the future!

Visit them online too!

Lucy Loves Vintage : Tea Dress Review

I was so excited last week to receive my gorgeous vintage tea dress from Lucy Loves Vintage, an independent vintage e-retailer owned by Marie (the store is named after her daughter, Lucy!)

I was selected to choose a dress from their website so I could show it off to you, my readers! I chose the  Josie Royal Blue Tea Dress by Lindy Bop. Lucy’s have a beautiful range of prom, rockabilly and tea dresses in vintage styles- 40s – 50s mostly. I understand they also have shoes to offer also… I need to bat my lashes at Marie!

I had great fun shooting this outside by myself using odd household objects to prop my camera and creative use of the timer…

2015-04-07 06.32.50Thankfully the weather was lovely enough yesterday for me to take some nice photos in the garden!

As you can see the dress fits rather nicely (it’s a size 10) though a little snug on the bust (I’m a 32D). The hips measurements were ample, though.

I paired this dress with my grandmother’s vintage (and sadly broken) Rotary watch and my vintage RAF sweetheart badge (Psst, this was because I stupidly smudged my lipstick on the dress while pulling it on, too lazy to undo the buttons!!!)

My lipstick is No7, and my nail polish is Barry M.

You can follow Lucy Loves on Twitter and on Instagram @Lucylovesv.

The dresses are all very reasonable in price, with this one at £29.99. I quite fancy this flared Jenna Dress for £19.00.

A HUGE thank you to the team at LLV — I’d certainly be interested it working with- and shopping with- them again in the future.
